March Madness couldn’t have been carzier than it was at Backstage Bar & Grill in Essex last night. Capacity crowd for most of the evening (even with the legendary LKP playing at On Tap), lead the band into a frenzy of songs that kept the floor bouncing (among other things) and the drinks flowing. The temprature must have rose 15 degrees in the place at the end of the first set. Chris Fleury (former JUSTICE frontman and now fronts and drums for Cousin Itt) filled in for the absent Mike Fredette. Tragedy struck this week when Mike lost a long time friend and mother of his two children to cancer. Our hearts go out to him and his family. R.I.P Heather….Chris, being the humble person he is, graciously stepped in for Mike and threw down  killer beats the entire night. He was even given a chance to shine with a drum solo. Pulled a great one out of the air mind you! We want to thank Pam, Patrick, Vickie and Jennifer for taking photo’s and video. Without you, we wouldn’t have anything to reflect on for the memories. It was great seeing such a great crowd of people. All were smiling, chatting, dancing and getting along great. The JUSTICE Legion just keeps growing and growing. With people like you all, the more the merrier. Enjoy the photo’s!

On the lighter side, we bring our show to Backstage tomorrow night. This marks the last time we will be in Essex until early June. Next month (April) we will be playing a private party, the off to Gusto’s in Barre on Friday the 13th. Vacation to the warmer climate ensues, then we are back to work.

Some of the bigger shows we have coming up are July 3rd at Club Metronome. We will be letting off some fireworks of our own from 10PM until 2 AM. We will also be opening for 8084 at Higher Ground on June 29th. Tickets are on sale now at the Higher Ground box office and website. This is an all ages show. Get your tickets now, as they are going fast. We sold out the 750 seat show last year, so you don’t want to miss this year.

As mentioned, these are some of the bigger shows we have lined up. We don’t forget about the other places we frequent either; On tap, Shooter’s Saloon, Gusto’s, Venue, Franny O’s, One Federal, Backstage, etc.. There are a lot of great bands out there that kick some serious ass. Sand Blizzard is coming back around, Smoking Gun, Mindtrap, Cousin Itt, Pleasure Dome, Raptor, Nightrain, Ambush, etc.. Make sure you get out and see some of these bands and show your support for the local music scene.

Our very own Todd Dunn has partnered with his brother Tom Dunn (Pleasure Dome) to create a band that will blow your socks off. KILOTON is an all original music band. No Todd and Tom are not getting done their gigs with their current cover bands, this is just a side project to allow them to spray their creative jucies amongst the heaviest rockers in the area.

Who would of thought, on a snowy night in VT, one place could become such a huge party? On Tap in Essex was just that this past Friday night. JUSTICE (featuring their new frontman Gary Greeno) showed they have what it takes t0 pull in a crowd despite the first major snow of the season. From the first song to the last (which ended a little early due to time constratints and the po po outside) the capacity crowd ate it all up.

Gary didn’t miss a beat. Firing on all cylinders (no pun intended), the band took the crowd through two long sets of music. Most of the songs were from the Chris Fleury era, but the boyz did add in a couple of new songs for the crowd. Ugly Kid Joe “Hate Everything About You” had the crowd pushing forward to sing into Gary’s mic during the chorus. Theory of a Deadman’s “Low Life” was a welcomed addition as well. The band grooved to the song and it was a hit. Promoted as their Mardi Gras Bash, the second year of their annual party was a hit. With over 280 people through the door and a line of people (at times) waiting to get in, it was a welcomed sight and one the boyz are thankful for. Thanks goes out to Travis Beaudette (Pleaseure Dome) for taking photo’s the entire night and keeping us laughing, Patrick Ashton for his dedication and hard work with setup and tear down (as well as singing), Vickie Allen for taking pics and getting the party favours, JC Image for the awesome limited edtition shirts and finally all of YOU! Over the first few weeks of January we had posted an ad on Craigslist and also reached out to a number of local musicians asking for their help in the search. We had a rather large number of people interested and the auditions came to a close. It was clear, with the number of people we had, that one person stood out from all of the rest, was on the same page as we are and is a good friend of all of us in the band. Enter Gary Greeno (fomerly of Ambush).

The decision was kept under wraps for quite sometime and for good reason.  We  informed Chris in early January of our decision for his successor. We then contacted Axel from Music News (a strong supporter of local music) to do a video interview with us. Part 1 of this interview has been released and is on our YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/justicevt. Part 2 will be released later this week and can be found via the same link. Chris’s last show with the band was an epic one and it was great to see all the support for both him and for us at Franny O’s that night (2-3-12). We wish him and his band Cousin Itt the best of luck in the future.

Now we move on to phase II of JUSTICE. We have been inundated with offers from new places in and around Vermont and Plattsburg, NY. While it will be impossible to honor them all, we are sifting through the requests and looking at what areas are best for the band and our fans. Our fan base has grown so much over the past year, we want to do our best to keep you all happy. Look for a couple of big shows to happen this year. One for sure will be the Higher Ground show with 8084 on June 29th. We helped them sell out the joint last year, so let’s see if we can rally to do it again this year. Tickets are on sale now at Higher Ground. We are looking to break into the downtown Burlington area and Plattsburg as well. You will have to stay tuned for more on this.

Our first show with Gary is coming up on 2-24-12 at On Tap and we have been re-working the set list and adding more/different songs. We think you will like the additions and look forward to seeing you all out for our Mardi Gras Bash. We will have tons of beads, great music and a great atmosphere.

For now this is all we have to report. We will continue to work on new songs. We will be adding to our light show for On Tap. We will also be putting together some band photo’s for promotional purposes and maybe even a 4 song demo.

JUSTICE is alive and well and we hope to see you out in support of our “In Rock We Trust Tour 2012″.
